The syn IRC network runs on ngIRCd with some minor code changes. It is different from other networks in many ways, some notable things you can expect from the network are:

  1. Tor and I2P support.
  2. No logs of any type are retained.
  3. No network channel list, or WHOIS channel list.
  4. No services like, NickServ, ChanServ, ETC.
  5. No channel operators. Actually, all channels are modeless, prefixed with '+' instead of '#'.
  6. No max / current users listed.
  7. No WHOWAS history.
  8. Unique certificate fingerprints are no longer displayed.
  9. CTCP is scrubbed.
  10. All users get the same vHost.
  11. Anarchy.

The goal is to create a network where privacy and anonymity are an expectation, and censorship, tracking, or other forms of user discrimination are impossible. It is primarily encouraged to use hidden services to connect to the network. Future clearnet peers might be added. There are currently two servers that support Tor/I2P:

If you are interested in linking your own server, message any user logged in as an operator, on any currently linked server for further information.
