The syn IRC network runs on ngIRCd with some minor code changes. It is different from other networks in many ways, some notable things you can expect from the network are:

  1. Tor and I2P only.
  2. No logs of any type are retained.
  3. No network channel list, or WHOIS channel list.
  4. No services like, NickServ, ChanServ, ETC.
  5. No channel operators. Actually, all channels are modeless, prefixed with '+' instead of '#'.
  6. No max / current users listed.
  7. No WHOWAS history.
  8. CTCP is scrubbed.
  9. All users get the same vHost.
  10. Anarchy.

The goal is to create a network where privacy and anonymity are an expectation, and censorship, tracking, or other forms of user discrimination are impossible. It is primarily encouraged to use hidden services to connect to the network. There is currently one server that supports Tor/I2P:
